The Mexican city of Merida is collaborating with West Athens, Greece on sustainable urban mobility and low carbon transport.
Merida and West Athens are sharing experiences in participatory methods related to Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning. Merida has great experience with active social participation strategies.
This city pairing is currently working on the development and implementation of strategies for urban mobility challenges at the local level. They aim to achieve this through the support of innovative methods and technologies and the collaboration with relevant actors of policymaking.
A significant emphasis is on accessibility issues of sustainable urban development.
The start of 2019 saw a Global Covenant of Mayors (GCoM) Signing Ceremony take place at the Government Palace of the State of Yucatan in Merida (Mexico).
